Method
Prepare the Pork
- In a large bowl, combine the cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder pieces.
Set Up the Crockpot
- Place the sliced onion and minced garlic at the bottom of the crockpot.
- Add the seasoned pork shoulder on top of the onions and garlic.
- Pour the orange juice and lime juice over the pork.
Cook
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
Shred and Serve
- Remove the pork from the crockpot and shred it with two forks. Return the shredded pork to the crockpot and mix with the juices.
- Serve in tacos, burritos, or as desired.

For extra crispy carnitas, spread the shredded pork on a baking sheet and broil for a few minutes until crispy.
