Ingredients
  

Doughnut Batter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Frying
  • 4 cups vegetable oil for frying
For Topping
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

Prepare the Doughnut Batter
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  2. In another bowl, beat the egg and then add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Shape and Fry the Doughnuts
  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Using a cookie cutter, cut out doughnut shapes from the batter.
  3. Fry the doughnuts in the hot oil until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  4. Remove the doughnuts with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Finish and Serve
  1. Dust the warm doughnuts with powdered sugar before serving.
