A fun and easy way to make homemade ice cream using just a few ingredients and a zip-top bag.

Ingredients
  

Ice Cream Base
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Milk Whole or 2% milk works best
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar Adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
Ice and Salt Mixture
  • 4 cups Ice Crushed or cubed
  • 1/2 cup Salt Rock salt or kosher salt

Method
 

Prepare Ice Cream Base
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, milk, sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Bag It Up
  1. Pour the ice cream mixture into a zip-top bag and seal tightly, removing as much air as possible.
Prepare Ice and Salt Mixture
  1. In a larger zip-top bag, add ice and salt. Place the smaller bag with the ice cream mixture inside the larger bag, and seal the larger bag tightly.
Shake It Up
  1. Shake the bags vigorously for about 5-10 minutes until the ice cream thickens.
Serve
  1. Remove the smaller bag from the larger bag, wipe it down to remove salt, and carefully open it. Scoop out the ice cream and serve immediately.
